Before you start, make sure you have:
  • Access to a Kubernetes cluster, with a kubeconfig that can create namespaces and install a CustomResourceDefinition, RBAC, and a Deployment.
  • A namespace to install into. This section uses <namespace> as a placeholder for the Kubernetes namespace where you want the operator and RegattaDB to run.
  • A registry reachable from every Kubernetes node that will run RegattaDB or the operator, and any credentials it requires for image pulls.
  • Enough CPU and RAM on your Kubernetes nodes for the SM Pod and every RDB Pod you plan to run (see Deployment Architecture).
  • Filesystem storage for RegattaDB’s repo and log directories, through a StorageClass or pre-created PersistentVolumes.
  • Raw block storage for RDB, through a StorageClass or pre-created PersistentVolumes that support Kubernetes volumeMode: Block. RDB always uses raw block storage. This is not limited to local physical disks: any StorageClass or CSI driver that can present a raw block device works, including SAN, NVMe-oF, and distributed-filesystem vendor drivers that provision block-mode volumes backed by their own storage. Non-root access to raw devices, including any container-runtime configuration it requires, is covered in Storage.
